How much is driving school in Edmonton?

It depends on your course and your price zone. Zone A is Edmonton and Beaumont. Zone B is St. Albert, Sherwood Park and Leduc. Here are the courses people ask about most. All prices plus 5% GST.

The Brush-Up Lesson is $50 an hour, in every area. The Alberta Licence Upgrade is for drivers working toward a non-GDL Class 5 licence, such as someone licensed in another province or country.

Where is the full price list, and how do I pay?

The driving school cost for all 11 options is on our Courses page, with both zones side by side. You can enroll now and pay later, pay by e-Transfer, or pay by credit card.

How long does driving school take?

The Full Course is 15 hours of theory, then 10 hours of driving on the Standard Course or 14 on More Road Time. The Alberta Licence Upgrade is 6 hours with a certified instructor, for Class 5 non-GDL drivers. All driving hours are to be finished within 6 months of registration.

How many hours of driving lessons do I need?

For the U-certificate, Class 7 and Class 5 GDL holders need 15 hours of theory and at least 10 hours of driving. Full (non-GDL) Class 5 holders need 15 hours of theory and at least 6 hours of driving. Want more road time before your test? Choose More Road Time, with 14 hours of driving, or add Brush-Up Lessons by the hour.

What happens during a driving lesson?

Each lesson is one-on-one with a certified instructor, in our own car. You practise city driving, highway driving, parking, lane changes, traffic circles and residential streets. Road test preparation is part of it too. Your instructor gives feedback during each lesson, and a 5-minute break is allowed.

Can you take driving school online?

The theory part, yes. The Full Course comes with online theory or classroom theory, and you pick one when you book. The Alberta Licence Upgrade also has an option named Online, and the office tells you what it involves. Driving lessons always happen in person, in our car.

Can I finish the theory after the driving part?

No. The 15 hours of theory come first, and your in-car lessons start once you finish them. If you choose classroom theory, you make your own way to the class.

Do driving schools provide cars?

We do. Road training is only given in Omni vehicles, so you do not need a car of your own. Your instructor picks you up and drops you off, free, at the address you gave when you registered. Any change to that address is agreed with your instructor first.

Can I use your car for my road test?

Yes, subject to availability. The Car Rental for Road Test is $90 in every area. It is not part of any package, so you book and pay for it separately. There is no refund if the car is not used. See our Road test car page.

Is Omni Driving School approved by Alberta Transportation?

You also need 80% in the classroom course and 75% in your driving lessons. A student below 75% may need at least 2 more hours. A duplicate certificate costs $50. The Full Course covers the hours Class 7 learners need.

How do I start driving lessons?

What if I need to cancel a lesson?
