Terms and Policies

The rules for lessons, certificates, cancelling, refunds and fees, set out in short plain sentences.

About These Terms

These terms apply to every course, lesson and road test car booking with Omni Driving School Ltd. Please read them before you book on our Booking page. If anything is unclear, call (780) 975-6000 or email info@omnidrivingschool.com.

The nine terms

  1. Our car, one-on-one. Each lesson is with a certified instructor, just the two of you, and always in an Omni vehicle.
  2. Theory comes first. You finish the 15 hours of theory, online or in class, before any in-car lesson starts.
  3. Certificate marks. The U-certificate needs 80% in the classroom course and 75% in the driving lessons. Below 75% in driving, you may need at least 2 more hours.
  4. Cancelling a lesson. Tell us at least 48 hours ahead. Cancelling with less notice costs $50.
  5. Your licence and shoes. Have your learner's or driver's licence with you at every lesson, and wear closed-toe shoes.
  6. Pickup and drop-off. We use the address from your registration. Agree any new address with your instructor first, and be ready 5 minutes early.
  7. Time limits. Complete all driving hours within 6 months of registering. Hours still not done after 2 years carry a $100 penalty.
  8. Refunds. If you withdraw, lessons taken are charged at the hourly rate and a $50 administration fee applies. Once the classroom part has started, $100 is kept from any refund.
  9. Road test car. The road test car is booked and paid for on its own, outside any package, subject to availability. An unused booking is not refunded.

Lessons and the Car

Every lesson is one-on-one with a certified instructor. Road training is only given in Omni vehicles. You cannot take lessons with us in your own car.

The U-Certificate

The U-certificate is the Notice of Driver Education Course Completion. What you need depends on your licence.

  • Class 7 and Class 5 GDL holders need 15 hours of theory and at least 10 hours of driving.
  • Full (non-GDL) Class 5 holders need 15 hours of theory and at least 6 hours of driving.
  • The pass mark is 80% in the classroom course and 75% in the driving lessons.
  • A student who scores below 75% in the driving lessons may need at least 2 more hours.

Feedback and Breaks

Your instructor gives you feedback during each lesson. A 5-minute break is allowed in each lesson.

Scheduling Your Lessons

The 15 hours of theory, online or in class, are finished before your in-car lessons start. Plan your lesson times so all of your driving hours fit inside the time limit below.

Time to Complete

All driving hours are to be finished within 6 months of registration. If your driving hours are still not done within 2 years, a $100 penalty applies.

Pickup and Drop-Off

We pick you up and drop you off at the address you gave when you registered. To use a different address, agree the change with your instructor first. Please be ready 5 minutes before your lesson. You make your own way to in-class theory.

Conduct and What to Bring

Bring your licence, learner's or driver's, to every lesson. Wear closed-toe shoes.

Cancelling a Lesson

To cancel a lesson, give at least 48 hours' notice. With less notice, a $50 fee applies.

The Road Test Car

The road test car is not part of any package. You book it and pay for it separately, and it is subject to availability. It costs $90 in all five areas we serve. All prices plus 5% GST. If you book the car and do not use it, there is no refund.

Recording

Lessons may be recorded on audio and video. This is for safety and for the quality of our teaching.

Your Records

We keep student records for two years. Our Privacy policy explains what we collect and why.

Traffic Tickets

Any traffic ticket you get during training or on your road test is yours to pay.

Paying

You can enroll now and pay later, pay by e-Transfer, or pay by credit card. Every course and price is on our Courses page.
